NCAHU Lobbyist
On the national level, NAHU employs a staff of lobbyists and legislative experts who work on behalf of our members.
They are regularly in contact with industry leaders and with legislators in order to affect pending legislation.
Our national organization forms policy statements about major issues and provides newsletters and bulletins about items of interest.
In North Carolina, NCAHU employs a lobbyist to work with legislation on the state level. Robert C. Paschal is a Partner at Young, Moore & Henderson, PA and a lobbyist for the Triangle Association of Health Underwriters. His practice emphasizes matters relating to life, accident and health insurance and ERISA, legislative, representation of TPA's and corporate law.
Robert is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in North Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, American Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and American Law Firm Association.

Financial Privacy Requirements Training
The NAHU Education Foundation's excellent Financial Privacy Requirements Guidebook has been turned into a one- or two-hour seminar that may be offered by state and local chapters. However, given the potential liability resulting from presenting incorrect information, all presenters are required to complete a train-the-trainer program, which is offered by NAHU staff. These calls are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Please contact Jessica Waltman to express your interest in participating in the next call.

Resources for Action
HUPAC.org - Health Underwriters' Political Action Committee
Your success, and that of your clients, is directly dependent upon the actions of Congress. Learn more about HUPAC and help those legislators who are willing to consider our point of view in support of private-sector health insurance.
Operation Shout

Online Networking
- NODEs - NAHU Online Discussion Environments. NODEs is a series of topic-specific forums in which members discuss the pressing issues within one particular specialty or functional area. If you only sell Long Term Care insurance, you can share your ideas and insights with your peers without having to wade through posts on unrelated topics.
- NAHUnet is an electronic discussion list open only to NAHU members. Here members can conduct discussions on the full range of health insurance and related issues facing our industry. More conversational, and with a looser structure, than NODEs, NAHUnet allows NAHU members to share their thoughts, and to agree or disagree with each other openly.
